The label of the heroes’ favourite drink, designed by Eva Arias Studio, is a tribute to the nature and the Nordic culture.
A unique elixir for adventurous heroes.
In the Nordic culture, hydromel was considered the favourite drink of its heroes.
Hydromel is an alcoholic beverage produced by the fermentation of honey. It is perhaps the oldest fermented in the world, even more than beer, and in antiquity it was known as the “drink of the gods”.
There is no certain information on the period in which man learned to produce hydromel, but the origin is supposed to be very old, given the simplicity of preparation.
The design, created by Eva Arias Studio, represents an adaptation of Vegvísir and transports us into the world of Scandinavian mythology.
A Vegvísir is an Icelandic magical stave intended to help the bearer find their way through rough weather. The Huld manuscript has nothing more than this one sentence to say about it: “If this sign is carried, one will never lose one’s way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known”.
There’s no evidence whatsoever that the Vegvísir was known or used during the Viking Age or earlier. In the end, we simply don’t know its origin.
But the Vegvísir on this label is a special one as it contains a graphic representation of the three elements that make up this hydromel: water, honey and fennel.
Cotone Bianco Ultra WS, with its natural texture and white and clear nuance, is a tree-free self-adhesive paper made of 100% cotton fibers. Thanks to the Ultra WS treatment, it is ideal for slowing graying and wrinkling on bucket beverage labels. Furthermore, it contains a special mold inhibitor which makes it particularly suitable for the labelling of quality products destined for aging.
