Birra 115, a tribute to the Italian firefighters
This bright red beer is called “115”, in honour of the emergency number of the Italian fire fighters.
The history of the Fire Fighters is an ancient history because ancient is the man, ancient is the fire, ancient are the natural calamities; and it is evident that the need to defend against the threat of adverse elements was born with man and this defence was one of the first manifestations of human society since the origins of its primordial organization.
The red 115 is an intense beer with a ruby colour, produced by Birrificio Lesster. The brewery produces beers made with the artisanal method: unfiltered, unpasteurized, without preservatives and refermented in bottles. From the day of the crush, it takes about 40 days for the beers to be ready to drink. From March 2017 the attention to nature is strengthened by the Birrificio Lesster from an exclusive consumption of 100% renewable energy: through this choice, they qualify as the first Italian brewery to have the pan-European EKOenergy certification for sustainable electricity.
In the middle of the 115 Beer label, which is black like soot, stands out, among the letters that sparkle like a spark, the figure of the fireman, who emerges heroically in every difficult situation.
The black like soot label is made on Ispira Nero Mistero Ultra WS, produced by Arconvert. This self-adhesive paper is made from pure natural ECF pulp with a special soft surface finish and the Ultra WS treatment, that allow to avoid the creases formation and to reduce the water absorption on the paper surface.
Copper and derivatives, including bronze and brass, as well as being the oldest metals, were widely used until the beginning of the Twentieth century in the history of the fire fighters for their resistance to corrosion and their ductility. For this reason the front of the label is made on a self-adhesive paper that contains a particular mixture of particles and bronze pigments: Sirio Pearl Fusion Bronce, produced by Arconvert, is a special surface coated paper with a metallised, pearlescent finish. It is made from pure natural ECF pulp fibers, that are pulp-coloured.
Both self-adhesive papers are produced in Italy and are composed of 100% ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free) cellulose and have the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification.
The ecological spirit of the papers (deprived, in fact, of chlorine) embraces the sustainable spirit of the 115 beer, produced with 100% renewable energy.
The label project is realized by Damolgraf, a company specialized in printing labels: the screen-printing technique is used on the whole surface of the label, which is crowned with a special process. The bronze support is “burned” by the incision of a laser to recall in mind the arduous battle of the fire fighters against the fire: it adorns the label like a scar, and every scratch on the tools of the fireman tells a story of courage.
Birra 115 won the first award at the Best Label contest, during the Expo Riva Hotel 2019!
